Song - Carnival Artist - The Pillows Tabbed By Ian M. After watching both the PV and the live performance from the Busters on the Planet DVD, I'm convinced that this is the correct way to play the bulk of Sawao Yamanaka's parts (rhythm guitar). I'm also bad at indicating timing in tab, but if you know the song, you shouldn't have any problems figuring it out. If it's lead parts you're looking for, check out aldeayeah's tab. It looks very good. =============== Intro: Contrary to most other tabs I've seen, Sawao only plays an interval (two notes) instead of a full chord (three or more). There's a lot of sliding and implied notes in this part, so I've noted with carats where you actually stroke. This is played with a clean sound. e|-------------------------------------------------------| B|-------------------------------------------------------| G|-------------------------------------------------------| D|--99999--7/10-12\x-x-----------------------------------| (repeat 3x) A|--77777--5/8--10\x-x-7/10-9/12\--7\5/7\5--5-x-x--x-x-x-| E|---------------------5/8--7/10\--5\3/5\3--3-x-x--x-x-x-| ^^^^^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ =============== Verse: Instead of full chords, Sawao uses power chords here, and only 3 of them. This part's easy if you got rhythm. aldeayeah's tab pretty much covers this properly, if you want the chords with the words. I'm just going to tab the power chord fingerings. Distortion kicks in here, and stays on for the rest of the song. C5(x8) G5(x8) D5(x8) C5(x8) e|-----------------------------| B|-----------------------------| G|--5-------------7------5-----| D|--5------5------7------5-----| (repeat 4x) A|--3------5------5------3-----| E|---------3-------------------| This is the main riff, really. The final time around, always end on a G5 instead of a C5 for the last chord. =============== Bridge/Whatever: I don't know what to call this part, but it's just one chord. Not that difficult. Palm muted the first 20 or so times, and then he bashes it a few (I think four) open. Just do what sounds right to you. Am e|-----| B|--1--| G|--2--| D|--2--| A|-----| E|-----| =============== Chorus: More power chords. I think that's called a B5, but I'm not 100% sure. C5 G5 B5/C5 e|---------------------------------| B|---------------------------------| G|--5-5-5---------------4/5--5-5-5-| D|--5-5-5-5--5-5-5-5-5--4/5--5-5-5-| (repeat 1x) A|--3-3-3-5--5-5-5-5-5--2/3--3-3-3-| E|--------3--3-5-3-3-3-------------| =============== Blah: After This, there's a part that eludes me, when he sings "kimi to KISS shite warai korogeru". It's really difficult to hear over Manabe's part, and there's not any video footage of the whole thing that I have. It's only three chords, though. One tab I've seen says they're E, F, and A. Another says G, F, C. In the PV it looks like he plays E5 or Em, C, and E. Just play whatever sounds good to you, because I give up. =============== Outro: The outro is a lot like the intro, but sounds slightly different. It's got distortion, and no string mutes. It plays twice, but the second time ends slightly differently. e|-------------------------------------| |-------------------------| B|-------------------------------------| |-------------------------| G|-------------------------------------| |-------------------------| D|--99999--7/10-12-12-12---------------| |-------------------------| A|--77777--5/8--10-10-10-777/10-9--9-9-| |-777\5/7\5--5-5-5--5-5-5-| E|-----------------------555/8--7--7-7-| |-555\3/5\3--3-3-3--3-3-3-| ^^^^^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^^^ ^ ^ ^ ^^^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ e|-------------------------------------| |-----------| B|-------------------------------------| |-----------| G|-------------------------------------| |-----------| D|--99999--7/10-12-12-12---------------| |-----------| A|--77777--5/8--10-10-10-777/10-9--9-9-| |-777\5/7\5-| E|-----------------------555/8--7--7-7-| |-555\3/5\3-| ^^^^^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^^^ ^ ^ ^ ^^^ ^ ^ In the recording as well as live, the song ends very abruptly. As soon as you hit the final interval, release pressure on the strings so your fingers mute them. In both this part and the intro, Sawao does some really fast picking with alternating up and down strokes. It's because of this that in the outro I've sometimes tabbed an interval three times in places where it might sound like one. =============== Order goes like this: Intro (4x) Verse (4x) Bridge (1x) Chorus (2x) Blah (1x) Verse (6x) (Mini Guitar Solo first 2x) Bridge (1x) Chorus (2x) Blah (1x) Verse (4x) (Main guitar solo here) Bridge (2x) Outro (2x) ===============
